Welcome
the Ms. WSRRA 2015 candidates!
The WSRRA is
welcoming four handy ladies to compete for the 2015 Ms. WSRRA title. Being a
ranch rodeo queen requires skills in horsemanship, rodeo and equine knowledge
and personality. This is no glitzy competition; the judges will be looking for
real ranch ladies. They will be scored by our guest judges, Kelly Martin and
Jamie Slagowski in four categories: Interview, Speech, Horsemanship and
Impromptu.
Maggie Muratore is 21 years old from (Kings River) Orovada,
NV. She is currently employed with Elk Horn Ranch and Disaster Farms. She is
the first generation in her family of ten to compete in rodeo. She has competed
in steer stopping as a WSRRA member for one year now and enjoys being outside
and branding season. Her goal in life is to rope like Jackie Hobbs and ride
like Jesse Wright and to make a difference in the world.
Tia Tomburello is 23 years old from Lima, MT. She is
currently the ranch manager at Peregrine Ranch in southwestern MT. She loves to
rope and work with her cow dogs. She also enjoys starting colts, beading and
leather work. Her favorite aspect of ranch rodeo is the horsemanship involved. She
is a Feather River College Graduate, sat on the California Cattlewomans
2011-2012 Legislation, Centennial Cattlemens 2014 and Public Relations Washoe
County High School Rodeo Team 2009. She has competed in the WSRRA women’s
division and steer stopping for one year.
Mary Jo Rowell is 25 years old from Prairie City, OR. She is
the mother of six year old Helen and four year old Gus. Her love of ranching
and rodeo prompted her to enter the WSRRA Queen competition. Along with
improving her handle on horses, she enjoys climbing on broncs. Her partner is a
15 year old Quarter Horse named Freckles. She has also held the Grant County
Rodeo Queen title in 2006 and has an Oregon State FFA degree. She has competed
in stock bronc riding and ranch rodeos in the WSRRA since 2013.
Jessica Hoots is 27 years old from Ely, NV. She is the mother
of one year old Kooper and is married to Pookie Hoots. She describes herself as
down to earth. Jessica has qualified for the 2014 WSRRA National Finals women
division with her team The Better Halves and the women’s steer stopping. She
enjoys training and showing horses and competing in ranch rodeos.
